Foreign Investment Review Board: Reappointment of Mr John Phillips, AO

The Treasurer announced today the reappointment of Mr John Phillips AO, as Chairman of the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) for a further five‑year term.

Mr Phillips joined the FIRB in April 1997, and has made valuable contributions to the Board and the administration of policy since this time. He has considerable business experience across a number of sectors.  He is a previous Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia and has been director of a number of major companies.  His current appointments include Chancellor of the University of Western Sydney, Chairman of the Alcoa of Australia Retirement Plan and member of the Organising Committee for World Youth Day 2008.

The other members of the FIRB are Ms Lynn Wood; The Hon Chris Miles and Mr Patrick Colmer (Executive Member).
