Grants of up to $5,000 for non-profit organisations
The Hon Peter Costello MP, Member for Higgins, today encouraged local non-profit organisations to apply for grants of up to $5,000 to purchase equipment and cover the cost of petrol under the Volunteer Grants 2009 program.
Since 2001, non-profit organisations in Higgins have been able to apply for grants to support their work and in recognition of the valuable contribution volunteers make to their communities.
In previous years, organisations have used the grants to purchase items such as first aid kits, gardening equipment, microwaves and printers.
“This funding provides welcome support to local voluntary organisations who contribute so much to help our community,” Mr Costello said.
Information on the Volunteer Grants 2009 program, and an online application form, can be found at:

Paper-based application forms are also available by calling 1800 183 374.
Applications close on Friday 25 September 2009 at 5pm AEST.
