APPOINTMENT OF ACCC DEPUTY CHAIR

Ms Louise Sylvan has received the required support for appointment as

Deputy Chair of the ACCC following consultations with all States and

Territories.

I welcome the support that Ms Sylvan has received and will be recommending

her appointment to the Governor-General.

Ms Sylvan has considerable experience in consumer and competition issues.

She is currently Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Consumers

Association and Chair of Consumers International.

She holds a Master of Public Administration degree and has been a member

of numerous government committees.
