All Australian Taxpayers to Pay Less Tax from Today

NO.070

ALL AUSTRALIAN TAXPAYERS TO PAY LESS TAX FROM TODAY

Every Australian taxpayer is today better off under income tax cuts and family allowance improvements that take effect today.

The new tax rates that apply today compared to the tax rates in 1996 are as follows:

In addition the Low Income Tax Offset will increase to $600 per year.

Over the period since 1996, the impact of tax cuts and wage increases has increased the real disposable income of Australians in families, as singles, and at different wage levels.

That real disposable income increase varies between 17 per cent and 40 per cent (see attached table).
