Transcript No. 2000/77 TRANSCRIPT of THE HON PETER COSTELLO MP Acting Prime Minister And Treasurer
Doorstop Melbourne Friday, 7 July 2000 12.45pm SUBJECTS: Tax Reform JOURNALIST: (inaudible) hows the first week of the GST (inaudible)?
TREASURER: It has gone better, I think, than people expected. I know that there are a lot of people that have got a lot more money in their pay packets this week, because theyve got their income taxes cut. And I want to pay tribute to the businesses of Australia, that, I think, has coped with these changes magnificently. We are now building a new tax system for the new Century, and I think its going to make Australia a better place. Thanks. |
