Release of 2006-07 Final Final Budget Outcome Document

NO.101

RELEASE OF 2006-07 FINAL BUDGET OUTCOME DOCUMENT

Today I release the Final Budget Outcome for the 2006-07 year.

The final underlying cash balance is slightly less ($0.1 billion) than the preliminary estimated 2006‑07 Budget outcome I announced on 21 August 2007.  This decrease follows the receipt of audited financial statements from agencies, allowing a more accurate assessment of final cash flows.

The final budget outcome for 2006-07 is the ninth cash surplus out of the past ten budgets. By running consecutive budget surpluses, the Australian Government is adding to national savings and keeping pressure off interest rates.

For more information an electronic version of the 2006-07 Final Budget Outcome document can be found at: http://www.budget.gov.au/
